Built by someone who's still on the committee
I started at St Catharine's College in 2013 and served on the Catz May Ball committee as a student. That's where I saw first-hand how generic event platforms break under May Ball realities: membership rules, guest lists, complex pricing tiers, and release-day panic.
In 2018 I built the first version of MayBall.com to solve that problem. After finishing my MB/PhD in 2022, I stayed on the St John's May Ball organising committee and kept iterating the platform from inside the process. That continuity matters — ball committees turn over annually, but the platform doesn't.
Today MayBall.com handles ticketing for leading Cambridge events and provides a public directory, guest guides, and ticket alerts for the whole of May Week. I've been coding since I was 11, and this is the project I keep coming back to.
